A copy of the telegram 297 of the
6th June from Hong Kong, giving a
revised estimate of the deficit for
the current year has been sent to you
direct. It appears from the telegram
that the provision in the supplementary
estimate for July will have to be
£3 million. There are many points in
the telegram which will have to be tak up separately and doubtless it will ne
be possible to give a precise estimate
of the probable deficit until much
later in the year and after we have hac
